I think Djdjango1 has a point actually. I'm tired of this so-called "blue-eyed soul"....especially as so much of it is fake, soullless kareoke. So, tired of Black culture being ripped off in this way, I'd have more respect for Stone if she sung The Wurzels! This post has a truth to it, albeit an inconvenient one.

You obviously don't know anything about soul or music. I guarantee you she isn't trying to 'sound black.' Do you say that black people who don't sound like a black person when they sing are trying to 'sound white?' Exactly. Shut the hell up and learn your music and facts before you speak. Joss Stone is one of the most talented singers out there, and emits much emotion when she sings. Her CD's sell thousands, so I'm sure she's not missing out on your ignorance, buddy.

Well she's british what do you expect lol, and who said that just because your white and you sing like a black person you have to talk like one, If she did that then yeah it would seem like she's trying to hard but she's being herslf and homegirl can blow she has a real soulful voice it doesn't match up to Aretha, Patti, etc. but the home girl got the blue-eyed soul on lock

Sorry but this girl only impresses if you dont really know your Soul music. Saw her live in support of Erykah Badu and it was clear she was trying desperately to imitate US Black vocal style. Very unconvincing, especially as she dont talk the same way. Its the same old "Great White Hope" myth again, soon as someone seems to have a Black-sounding set of pipes; they get over-hyped. Just another tired, overindulged wannabe. Her only skill is soulless impersonation. Kareoke for the masses.
